
Pablo is a Professor of Architecture at Cal Poly Pomona, and a Principal & Global Sustainable Design Services Director at ARCADIS. He holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from UCLA and has authored or coauthored more than 150 technical papers published in leading journals and international conferences. He is the author of several book chapters and books, including Carbon Neutral Architectural Design, with its third edition released in 2024. He has participated in podcasts, served on architecture competition juries, and acted as a member of the scientific committee, technical reviewer and session chair for professional and technical organizations including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Passive and Low Energy Architecture (PLEA), Architectural Research Centers Consortium (ARCC), U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). He also chaired the PLEA 2016 Conference in Los Angeles and is currently a PLEA director.
Pablo is Past President of the Society of Building Science Educators (SBSE) and Past Chair of the Solar Buildings Division of ASES. His work and teaching have received multiple awards, among these “Habitar el Dispositivo in Spain, the Volunteer IMPACT Award from the USGBC, the EDUCATE Prize Rome in 2012, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Grand Prize for Cal Poly Pomona in 2008, and an AIALA NextLA 2021 citation award for Terminal II, Guadalajara airport with Arcadis. His carbon-neutral design studio was selected for Architecture’s 2030 Curriculum Project, and his students have also received many awards in architecture competitions, including the COTE Top Ten for Students award, sponsored by the AIA and ACSA and the AIAS/COTE 2012 Research Scholar.
