Statement

El Equipo Mazzanti believes in sustainability  as a multifaceted approach, not only environmental or economic, but also as social tool that promotes inclusion and community appropriation. Projects must be developed along with strategies that ensure long-term sustainability, becoming tools for pedagogy and territorial development. Sustainable architecture involves the community, is adaptable to changing conditions, and creates inclusive spaces for everyone.

Giancarlo Mazzanti

Biography

Giancarlo Mazzanti is a Colombian-Italian architect and professor renowned for his research on the relationship between play and architecture. His work focuses on social transformation aiming to improve quality of life and community building. Mazzanti’s projects reflect social changes in Latin America and Europe, showcasing how architecture can reshape urban identities.

He has been a visiting professor at prestigious institutions like Columbia University, Harvard, and Princeton. His work is featured in permanent collections at MoMA, the Pompidou Center, and the Carnegie Museum of Art and exhibited at multiple venues including the Venice Biennale and the Guggenheim Museum under the brand “We Play You Play”.

Mazzanti has been recognized with the RIBA International Awards for Excellence and the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture. Notable projects include the Santa Fe Expansion Hospital, León de Greiff Library, the Four Sports Stadiums and 21 Atlantico Kindergartens among other schools in Colombia.
